Senior Software Engineer, C++ | Platform & Asset Mgmt

Engineering & Quality AssuranceRemote, Texas Florida Georgia North Carolina California Connecticut Maine Washington Virginia Tennessee Oregon Illinois Kansas Massachusetts New Jersey New York Colorado Maryland

Description

About the Role

We are hiring a Senior C++ Software Engineer to join our growing Platform & Asset Management team. Our team gives customers the tools to shape the platform around their specific needs. We own the products that let organizations build and maintain their own knowledge bases, create custom checklists, define custom fields that capture the data unique to their environment, and manage apps and services directly inside NinjaOne, along with many other features that put real power in our customers’ hands.

On the asset side, we cover software license tracking, asset discovery, and visibility into unmanaged devices, so customers have a clearer picture of what they own and what is connected.

Because these capabilities touch nearly every part of the product, our work influences how thousands of organizations document, customize, and operate their IT environments day to day. You will own software that more than 40,000 customers rely on to make NinjaOne fit their processes.

We are a fast-paced team with a steady pipeline of customer-driven features. We are looking for an engineer for our endpoint agent who is proficient in C++ and has a strong understanding of macOS and Linux systems, to help extend our reach across more of the environments our customers manage.

We hire the best software engineers, but experience in our stack can’t hurt: NinjaOne is built on Java, Kotlin, C++, Golang and Postgres, supporting millions of user endpoints and running as a scalable cloud service in AWS.  Knowing large-scale datastore bottlenecks, asynchronous application design and client-server architecture will help you.

Location - We are flexible on remote working from home, if you are located in the USA and reside in one of the following states - CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, *IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NC, NY, OH, OR, TN, TX, VA, and WA. We have physical offices in Austin, TX and Tampa, FL, if you prefer a hybrid option.

*Onsite interviews may be required for this role.

What You’ll be Doing

  • C++ Software Development: design and implement scalable features, enhance platform performance, and support critical functionality across our core product suite. Use your expertise to contribute to the development of large-scale software applications.
  • Committing Code and Shipping Products: be one of our most trusted engineers committing code.
  • Other Duties as needed

About You

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of systems level C++ engineering, C++14 or newer, with C++17 preferred.
  • Strong Linux systems programming experience, including service management, process management, and inter process communication.
  • Strong macOS systems experience, including Apple Endpoint Security framework, launchd, macOS configuration profiles, or equivalent OS level configuration APIs.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing high performance, multi-threaded applications.
  • Experience with CMake and vcpkg, or equivalent C++ build and dependency systems.
  • Comfortable designing and evolving multi process C++ architectures.
  • Experience with SQLite or embedded database patterns for local state persistence.
  • Ability to write design documents, define IPC contracts, and drive technical decisions with limited supervision.
  • Ability to develop comprehensive test cases and test plans that thoroughly cover functional requirements.
  • Comfortable collaborating with cross functional teams to define technical requirements.
  • Experience working with highly critical systems.
  • Comfortable experimenting with AI tools in the development workflow.
